Divorce is one of the most traumatic events to occur in a person’s life. It throws the emotional, physical, and financial aspects of families and businesses into disarray.
When clients begin the divorce process, they need someone to guide them and help them understand what to expect from a financial and non-financial perspective. For over 10 years, Mark has worked with clients and local area attorneys in working through the issues associated with the divorce process including:
- Financial analysis – budgeting, cash flow and marital balance sheet
- Child support analysis
- Maintenance analysis
- Property division analysis
- Business valuation
- Consulting – strategic planning in creating settlement proposals
- Mediation and arbitration – expert representation and settlement negotiation
- Tax services – strategic planning as it relates to settlement and tax return preparation
As a result of his experiences, Mark has the ability to calm and counsel his clients about the process and issues. Additionally, he will collaborate with them and their attorney in an effort to negotiate a reasonable Marital Settlement Agreement (MSA). If a settlement is not reached, Mark has expertise in representing his clients in the mediation, arbitration and trial processes.
Mark is a past Treasurer of the Collaborative Family Law Council of Wisconsin, Inc. (CFLCW) as well as the current Treasurer of its arm, the Wisconsin Collaborative Foundation of Wisconsin, Inc. For those interested in an alternative divorce process, a “collaborative” divorce option should be investigated. This process occurs primarily outside the judicial arena with the goal of negotiating a divorce settlement that meets the financial and non-financial goals of both spouses.
